Ms. Peris Muthoni Kimani, MBS, OGW

Biography

Ms. Peris Muthoni Kimani is a distinguished public servant who dedicated more than thirty-nine (39) years to the National Police Service of Kenya. Her law enforcement journey began in 1983 when she joined Kiganjo Police College shortly after completing her O-levels. Through hard work, integrity, and exemplary service, she rose steadily through the ranks, culminating in her retirement as Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in 2022.

She held numerous critical leadership positions, among them Regional Police Commander, Western Region; Director of Public Complaints at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI); Deputy Provincial Criminal Investigations Officer at Kenya Railways; Head of Revenue Protection Services at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA); Nairobi Area Staff Officer, Administration; Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer (Lang’ata); Nyanza Provincial Quartermaster; and Officer-in-Charge of Kilimani, Karuri, and Babadogo (Ruaraka) Police Stations, among others.

Ms. Kimani holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from the Presbyterian University of East Africa, an Executive Diploma in Humanitarian Diplomacy from the International College of Peace Studies and a Diploma in Security Management and Legal Studies. She has also undertaken specialized training locally and internationally in areas such as international cooperation in criminal matters, counterterrorism, crime management, genocide and war crimes, governance, investigations and strategic leadership.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is an active member of several associations including the Professional Criminologists Association of Kenya and the Retired Police Officers National Executive Council (NARPOK).

Her outstanding service has been recognized through several national honors, including the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) in 2021, the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) in 2010 and a Certificate of Recognition from the Kenya Revenue Authority for exemplary service in revenue protection services.
