Mr. Edwin Cheluget

Biography

Mr. Edwin Cheluget is a distinguished legal practitioner with extensive experience in corporate law, governance and legislative affairs. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with two decades of experience in legal practice.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Cheluget served as a Member of the Tax Appeals Tribunal within the Judiciary, where he contributed significantly to tax dispute resolution and legal interpretation. He served as the inaugural Speaker of the Nandi County Assembly, where he provided strategic leadership in legislative oversight and institutional development.

Mr. Cheluget has served in the Boards of several public institutions, including the National Irrigation Board, where he played a pivotal role in governance and policy oversight. In private legal practice, he is affiliated to the Cheluget and Company Advocates, a firm specializing in corporate law, governance and regulatory compliance.

Mr. Cheluget holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Moi University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Strategic Management at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

He also possesses specialized training in legislative drafting from the Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST). Beyond his professional engagements, he is also a life member of the Kenya Red Cross Society, demonstrating his commitment to humanitarian service.

At the National Police Service Commission, Mr. Cheluget serves as the Chairperson of the Appeals, Policy, and Legal Affairs (APLA) Committee. He also co-chairs the Recruitment, Appointments and Welfare Committee, where he continues to contribute to the Commission’s mandate in strengthening the human resource function within the National Police Service.
