














Setting the tone of collaboration and strengthening internal synergy, the Commission under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Amani Komora met with the Secretariat for a consultative session on Thursday. The engagement created space for meaningful interaction, candid feedback and a shared commitment to improving institutional performance.
The engagement began with a series of one-on-one sessions between Commissioners and members of staff from various departments. Led by Chief Executive Officer Peter Leley, the interactive sessions provided an opportunity for staff to share first-hand insights into their operational experiences, highlight challenges and propose practical solutions for continuous improvement.
At a subsequent breakfast meeting bringing together the Commissioners and Secretariat staff, the Chairperson outlined the Commission’s expectations, emphasizing professionalism, accountability, integrity and efficiency in the discharge of duties.
Dr. Komora noted that the Commission is currently reviewing its Strategic Plan, guided by five key strategic objectives: Strengthening recruitment and appointment processes;Re-engineering promotions and transfers; Enhancing workforce alignment, discipline and accountability; Strengthening welfare and wellness programmes; and Building institutional capacity to improve service delivery.
He expressed optimism about the future, affirming that “there is light at the end of the tunnel”. The Chairperson further disclosed that the Commission is pursuing diversifiedresource mobilization strategies to strengthen financial sustainability and advance its reform agenda.
Vice Chairperson Prof. Collete Suda described the meeting as a special opportunity to interact directly with staff.
“We have big dreams to transform the police service in line with our mandate. This transformation can only be achieved if we work together as a team, particularly in strengthening human resource management systems,” she said.
Commissioners Benjamin Imai, Peris Muthoni and Angeline Siparo collectively expressed gratitude to the Secretariat for their dedication and encouraged them to remain focused, innovative and committed to excellence. They reaffirmed their full support and emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving the Commission’s mandate.
The forum concluded on a celebratory note, with the staff choir presenting a special performance in honour of the Chairperson and Commissioners, a symbolic gesture of unity, appreciation and shared commitment to institutional transformation.
The engagement marked a significant step in fostering closer collaboration between the Commission and the Secretariat, reinforcing a shared resolve to enhance efficiency, accountability and service delivery.
