Induction Training for New Commissioners

The Commission conducted a four-day induction training program for the newly appointed Chairperson and Commissioners at the Kenya School of Government in Mombasa. The program was designed to equip the Chairperson and Commissioners with a deeper understanding of their roles and responsibilities in executing their constitutional mandate.

The training covered a wide range of topics, including the historical perspective of the Commission, the establishment of Independent Constitutional Commissions, Corporate Governance, and Police Reforms. Commissioners gained valuable insights into the membership, functions, achievements, challenges, and recommendations of various Commission Committees, as well as the Strategic Plan of the Commission.

During the official opening, Commission Chairperson Dr. Amani Yuda Komora emphasized that the training would strengthen the collective capacity of the Commission and provide clarity on governance, leadership, and decision-making processes. He acknowledged the critical role of the Secretariat in supporting the work of Commissioners, stressing the need for a strong working relationship between Commissioners and the Secretariat.

Dr. Komora assured Commissioners of his support, urging them to approach their role with dedication, humility, and commitment. He expressed confidence in their diverse experiences and expertise, saying it would strengthen the Commission’s capacity to transform policing in Kenya.

“As we embark on this new chapter, I am confident that our collective expertise and dedication will enable us to drive meaningful reforms and transform policing in Kenya. Let us work together with humility, integrity, and a commitment to excellence and upholding the Constitution,” Dr. Komora said.

The Commissioners on their part,  articulated their vision, pledging to execute the Commission’s constitutional mandate effectively and emphasizing the need for teamwork and focus in service delivery.
