Commission Chairperson Dr. Amani Komora joined stakeholders during the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) Strategic Plan 2025–2030 launch at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
Dr. Komora commended IPOA for developing a new roadmap noting its significance in deepening accountability in policing.
“This strategic plan marks an important milestone in deepening accountability in policing. As NPSC, we remain committed to working with IPOA and other stakeholders to ensure a professional, accountable, and citizen-centered police service,” he said.
He further reassured stakeholders that the Commission remains steadfast in ensuring transparent, merit-based and inclusive police recruitment processes that will deliver a professional and trusted service.
Chief Justice Hon. Martha Koome who graced the event underscored the judiciary’s commitment to supporting institutions that promote justice and accountability. She further urged oversight bodies, including IPOA, to work towards building a policing system that is trusted by all Kenyans.
IPOA Chairperson, Isaack Hassan, emphasized the role of technology in fighting corruption within the police service. He urged the National Police Service to embrace digital solutions, stressing that digital recruitment is the first step in eliminating corruption.
The Strategic Plan sets out five key priorities for the next five years. These include strengthening police accountability, enhancing public trust and confidence in both the National Police Service and IPOA, fostering strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement, promoting institutional effectiveness and efficiency, as well as advancing data and knowledge management.
The event drew participation from senior government officials, the National Police Service, civil society, and international partners, signaling a collective resolve to transform policing in Kenya through accountability, transparency, and strengthened oversight.
